Dead Cells “Who’s The Boss” Update Live, Available Soon on Switch

Indie developer Motion Twin have announced their latest update for Dead Cells, dubbed the “Who’s The Boss?” update, has gone live on almost all platforms.

The 14th update is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One- with the Nintendo Switch version “to follow ASAP.” The update includes new weapons and enemies, centered around the game’s bosses.

“Five of the seven new weapons are thematically tied to the bosses you will encounter in the latest version of Dead Cells, with one being the (no spoilers!) and the seventh being a mystery weapon players will (finally!) be able to wield. Each of the six new mobs joining the Dead Cells family are also thematically tied to the bosses which should delight and possibly frustrate players as each is encountered, learned and defeated.”

As noted in the above vlog, the new enemies are designed to teach players about some of the mechanics a boss will employ before they meet them. This prevents newer players being blind-sided by how the boss fights.

The update also includes “several quality of life improvements,” UI adjustments, level design alterations, bug fixes, and community suggestions for balance. The latter includes several items now having adjusted “color scaling” to better fit the playstyles of the three player stats- Tactics, Brutality, and Survival. You can find the full break-down on the patch notes here.

Dead Cells is available on Windows PC, Mac, Linux, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. In case you missed it, you can find our review here (we highly recommend it!).
