Dead by Daylight announces spinoff games and a movie

Behaviour Interactive announced during their 7th Anniversary livestream that they’re working on new spinoff games and a movie; they also announced their newest killer and survivor.

The spinoff games include a narrative single-player adventure from Supermassive Games. Supermassive are a perfect fit since they’re well known for their past work on The Dark Pictures Anthology games and The Quarry.

Meanwhile a co-op PvE game is reportedly in the works by Midwinter Entertainment. Midwinter Entertainment is directly owned by Behaviour and plan to explore themes of “greed and a lust for power” in their own spinoff game.

Outside of video games, the Dead by Daylight team has been in touch with Blumhouse (Five Nights at Freddy’s chapter when?) and Atomic Monster for a movie based on the game (maybe they’ll get Nicolas Cage on board). Lastly, Titan Comics will be publishing a comic book based on the game next month.

Originally, Dead by Daylight had an opaque story with contrivances like “The Entity” explaining away the game’s mechanics and world. In recent years since they began doing their in-game battle pass called “The Archives”, the lore has been dramatically expanded and elaborated on and Dead by Daylight now has a coherent setting.

Dead by Daylight is available on Windows PC (via Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Android, and iOS. In case you missed it, you can find our review here (we recommend it!)
