The developers at Behaviour Interactive have announced the latest Dead by Daylight chapter which appears will feature Sadako from Ringu.
Ringu (known as The Ring in the west) is a horror franchise featuring the gruesome ghost Sadako (or Samara in The Ring). Sadako emerges from a well and passes through the TV of her victims after they watched a cursed video.
Sadako is a staple of the Japanese horror genre and one of its most recognizable figures next to Kayoko from The Grudge. It’s unknown at present what sort of gameplay mechanics we can expect from a playable Sadako (or if Sadako is even the playable killer).
Behaviour makes it clear in the trailer that their new chapter is based off the “original story”, seemingly avoiding any relation to The Ring and decisively basing their crossover off the original Japanese version.
Although the chapter featuring Sadako won’t release until March, the developers released a teaser trailer early; which is a break from form as Behaviour typically releases vague trailers at first which leave fans guessing like they did with Pinhead from Hellraiser.

The series’ popularity has led to plenty of horror-based crossovers. Including Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Scream. Whether original characters or those from other IPs, The Entity reaches out across the world and dimensions to pull more killers into its own twisted realm.
Dead by Daylight is available now on Windows PC (via Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Android, iOS, and Google Stadia. In case you missed it, you can find our review here (we recommend it!)
