DC Universe Online Dev is Making a Marvel MMO

Making a Marvel MMO

DC Universe Online publisher Daybreak Game Company and developer Dimensional Ink are making a Marvel MMO, news confirmed in the publishers latest investor financial presentation.

While the 2011-released DC Universe Online is still going over a decade later and even got a Nintendo Switch port, Dimensional Ink has been trying to get into making a Marvel MMO since the mid 2000s, when they were still working on City of Heroes.

Lead designer Jack Emmert worked on both titles, and is now heading the new unannounced Marvel MMO at Dimensional Ink with Daybreak Game Company as the publisher. Details on the game are scarce but it’s currently described as “triple-A” and “Marvel IP based”, so it’ll likely be of similar scale and scope to DC Universe Online.

As the new financial presentation is for Q3 2021 and lists the game as “longer term” and beyond projects in the 2022 and 2023 timeline, it remains to be seen how far off the Marvel MMO really is from launch.

Previously, Emmert announced Marvel Universe Online back in 2006 with Microsoft as publisher but it was ultimately cancelled in 2008. We’ll keep you guys posted.

What would you like to see in a potential Marvel MMORPG? What improvements or changes would you like to see from DC Universe Online, or City of Heroes? Sound off in the comments below!
