Bohemia Interactive has revealed that their ambitious zombie sandbox, DayZ, has apparently been selling like hotcakes. Although the Early Access has only been up for a few weeks now, the early build of the game has already sold close to 800,000 copies. The creator of DayZ, Dean Hall, actually wrote on twitter that the game was nearly 800,000 users strong, and that was two days ago:

To put that into perspective, this game is still in Alpha phase and it has already sold more copies than most games can hope for in lifetime sales, with a completed build as well. Despite the controversial PVP system, the game is definitely appealing to fans worldwide, and it isn’t going to stop here.

Over on the DayZ blog, future updates mention the addition of vehicles, animals and hunting, player created constructions, cooking and gathering resources, more zombies, and so on. DayZ also confirmed a new milestone with this recent update – the game has seen over 40,000 concurrent users online at once.

You can buy DayZ through Early Access on Steam for $29.99.
