While David Jaffe’s new Playstation 4-exclusive, Drawn to Death, certainly surprised everyone at last year’s Playstation Experience, we still don’t really know too much about the game. For one, fans have been pondering the scale and pricing, the latter of which just got answered.
The news of the game being free to play, in fact, came from David Jaffe himself over on his personal Twitter:
“Yes, it’s a free-to-play game made by people who don’t really like traditional free-to-play. We built it as free-to-play from the ground up in order to take the accessibility that we love about free-to-play, while destroying what we hate about it: lack of play balance and pay-to-win. I hope that players think that we’ve got it right, but know that it’s our take on free-to-play, and not what you’re used to.”
It’s certainly interesting that not only is he confirming the game has been built from the ground up as free to play, while supposedly avoiding all the mishaps that free to play games tend to bring with them, i.e. unfair microtransactions, hidden paywalls, etc.
In case you missed it, we conducted an interview with David Jaffe shortly following his reveal for Drawn to Death, which was mostly focused on #GamerGate, with some portions related to his new title.
