Darkstone Just Won’t Die, Turns Up On Steam

You might remember a little report I did back in March that mentioned Darkstone and how it was being re-imagined as a F2P mobile game. It seemed interesting enough news at the time, since the game was a bit of a forgotten gem (or merely a curiosity) to some in the hobby…but it seems that was only the tip of the iceberg, since now the action RPG has now shown up on steam.

Unfortunately, the game contains none of the new content (most of which you have to pay for) that the re-touched iOS port had. Like it or not, it’s more or less a straight copy of the GOG version.

I do wonder though if this is part of an effort by the rights holder to drum up interest and name recognition for a sequel. With the ARPG genre suddenly coming into vogue thanks to games like Borderlands and Destiny, it might be the right time to make a sequel.
