Darkest Dungeon Launches for Nintendo Switch on January 18

Red Hook Studios has announced the release date for Darkest Dungeon on the Nintendo Switch.

The psychological-thriller dungeon RPG game will launch for the hybrid console via the eShop on January 18th. A price is set at $24.99, and it will launch alongside the “The Crimson Court” and “The Shieldbreaker” downloadable content packs, both costing $9.99 and $3.99, respectively.

Darkest Dungeon was originally released for PC back in January of 2016, followed by PlayStation 4, PS Vita, Linux, and iOS.

The game’s latest expansion, “The Color of Madness,” is set to launch sometime in spring of this year. You can read more about it here.

Cool, will get it on launch. Skipped it on Steam to get for Switch. Doing the same with Hollowknight. I’d rather have my indies have handheld functionality.

I already own this title on PS4 and I should most likely not buy it again but, just imagine how cool it will be to play in the bed or ad work during downtime makes me consider getting It +it’s important to support good games and the Switch.

Those who are interested in the niche stuff from various systems that I stated above

There is also the fact the Switch is more a portable home console than a handheld. Case in point is the sized tablet + detachable joycons (instead of an unit with controls built-in), and retail games being priced in the same range as home consoles titles

That sounds more like that actual demographic the Vita ended up stuck with.

Good stuff. It’s a game that works really well on the go, but you now you don’t need a dead console to play it portably anymore. Good stuff all around.

…The Vita had tv output before Sony decided at the last moment to drop the support and not even sell the og vita accessory that lrt us plug a hdmi in. Only to try to sell the fail ps tv later. All for greed. Check out the prototype Vita thst had it apong with Micro sd support. The Vita COULD have been the Switch before the Switch but you know…Sony.

Less features for now. In time it will get additional stuff, probably to coincide with paid online.

I agree with you on the Vita TV (a poor attempt to sell a spin-off with some games that couldnt work) and the thing about memory cards, but Nintendo is also acting greedy with the price of the Switch accessories (specifically the dock, the joycons and the pro controller).

Agreed. I’ll defend the pro though for the batery life alone. But even then it should be 59.99 tops.
