Publisher Devolver Digital and develoepr doinksoft announced a delay for Dark Scrolls, their retro action-platformer.

Dark Scrolls is forgoing its previously announced release date this month for one a bit later, on June 22nd. A reason for the delay wasn’t officially announced but we got a coy statement from the team:

“You know when we said we were releasing Devolver Digital and Doinksoft’s Dark Scrolls on May 28 for PC and Switch? Ya know, the super rad, pixelated fantasy-themed action platformer that fuses shmup-style chaos with roguelite progression? We actually meant June 22, and it’s nothing to do with our friends at Yacht Club Games announcing that Mina the Hollower would be launching a day later on May 29. Nothing at all,” Devolver Digital said.

When the game does launch, it’ll be available for Windows PC (via Steam) and Nintendo Switch. Get our preview here!

Dark Scrolls is a fantasy-themed action platformer that fuses shmup-style chaos with roguelite progression and is packed with charm, challenge, and secrets.

Set forth on your quest to [INSERT GOAL HERE] with one of the worthy yet quirky heroes in solo or cooperative play, local and online. Hack, slash, and dodge through hordes of enemies and deadly traps in procedurally generated runs of hand-crafted rooms and levels using each hero’s unique attacks and abilities to your advantage.

Sharp reflexes and split-second decisions are crucial to survival as the intensity ratchets up as each run delivers new surprises, branching paths, and unrelenting bosses to conquer. Gobble up coins to spend at Bruce & Goose’s Shoppe as you take a breath from the action to gain new perks, devastating attacks and summoned allies.
