Dark Deception film adaptation announced

The developer of Dark Deception announced that a film adaptation of the Pac-Man style horror game is in the works.

According to Deadline, the film will be written by Adrian Speckert and Cory Todd from So It Goes Entertainment. So It Goes is also working on the upcoming horror film Wolf Creek: Legacy.

In Dark Deception, players take on the role of Doug Houser who performed a demonic ritual to reach Bierce, an enigmatic woman who’s rumored to help grant wishes. In order to help herself, Bierce recruits Doug to recover pieces of a ring which she requires. The ring is guarded by Malak, a demon who has hidden the pieces in different dimensions.

To collect the ring pieces, Doug needs to collect Soul Shards in order to retrieve each piece which is protected on an altar in each dimension. Throughout each stage, players will need to outrun enemies, collect Soul Shards, and solve puzzles.

Dark Deception has been in development for years and has a cult following of fans who enjoy the game’s surprisingly deep narrative, its spooky environments, and creative monsters.

Dark Deception is available now on Steam.
