Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Confirmed for PC/Steam Release in February

Spike Chunsoft has announced that the original Danganronpa is heading to PC via Steam.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc will be releaseing for PC via Steam in February, although a solid release date wasn’t confirmed. Featured above, you can view the game’s PC announcement trailer.

Here are some of the game’s key features, in case you need a refresher:

  • Daily Life, Deadly Life: Trapped in a school-turned-prison, students are murdering each other one by one. You’ll have to investigate each incident, search for clues, and talk to your classmates to try and get to the bottom of each brutal case!
  • Mock Trial: The nefarious Monokuma serves as judge, jury, and executioner as you engage in deadly wordplay, going back and forth with suspects, dissecting their statements and firing their words back at them to expose their lies!
  • Popularity Contest: Sway classmates to your side in each investigation, squeezing information from them to figure out who did it. And when you do, turn up the heat in a variety of timing and reflex-based game systems to uncover the truth and save your skin!
  • Steam Features: Supports Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud with plans to add Steam Trading Cards.

You can view the Steam page for Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc here.

Finally, it’s worth reiterating that the announcement for Danganronpa’s PC version further solidifies the previous Steam release leak, which we reported on last year.

Not really. Vitafag here, quite happy to see this. I’ve played it on Vita/PSTV and will buy again on PC. I endorse this. Just because it’s out on PC doesn’t hurt the Vita version, as there’s handheld portability there (something PC still hasn’t really yet accomplished, laptops & tablets wise.)

Ghostlight has been teasing some new titles for PC recently. Some of the more commonly expected ones are EDF and Way of the Samurai 3 since 4 did quite well for them on Steam. They said one of them is a “highly requested action title”

Really, it’s a hard guess. They say they have multiple lined up. There is hope for EDF though, the titles leaked from SteamDB have been been announced officially at a pretty rapid pace since then, no?

The game came out 3 years ago on the Vita and even longer on the PSP with a fan translation. So no not really we aren’t at all…

    Holy fucking shit.
NISA just won’t stop. It really does astound me what effort they go through to go out of their way to piss off their customers. This pop culture bullshit isn’t gonna make a weeb game any less weeb and it’s like they’re trying to get the Family Guy audience to buy their shit. But the only people who give a shit in the first place are weebs and there are two kinds, the epic memesters and the people who want their shit uncorrupted. And the epic memesters don’t even buy god damn games they just latch onto the hobby to look cool, it makes me wonder if there was an obvious sales dip when they ass up a localization.

For some reason I completely missed that “action title” part of their tease; guess I just stopped reading altogether after deducing they were teasing Mugen Souls Z…

On a completely seperate note, they really should try leveraging the publishing rights they have for a bunch of Atlus titles already. A strategy game like Devil Survivor would be a great fit for PC.

  25. Tenryuu

This isn’t like Rise of the Tomb Raider where it came out less than 3 months later on other platforms. Danganronpa 1 has been on the PSP years before the Vita version.

Ryu ga Gotoku, because it would be nice to make the serie more known to the public and I trust Sega enough to make good PC ports in general (unlike the ports of DoA5:LR, Pirate Warriors 3, Akiba’s Trip for instance which use the PS3 version instead of the PS4 one, removed features such as online, or capped framerate too).

I’m gonna scream however if that PC port end up with X360 buttons prompt only.

Danganronpa 2 was especially funky on a TV. The ending was so gloriously batshit with the colors and the music and the crazy twists. PSTV is a joy to work with.

The NISA localization of Danganronpa is some of the best localization in any game.

Really. The English voice acting is better than the JP ones too.

  48. SpecialK

^ THIS. In all seriousness, with the miniaturization of systems like the Rasperry Pi 2, and stuff I’ve backed online like C.H.I.P., and the upcoming Pine64, I’ve been dreaming of an x86-based handheld that can run DOS, Win95, etc, up through maybe WinXP (and all the associated Apple II, C64, etc) systems. With one analog stick mapped to WASD/etc, and one analog stick mapped to mouse emulation, it’d be a frigging dream to play stuff like D&D Gold Box games or Dark Forces, Hexen, Blood, etc, etc…

The biggest issue is implementation/support.. It practically has to run DOSBox out of the gate, to support all the myrad f’d up sound card arrangements, VGA/etc video styles, etc, out there back in the day. It’d be great if a hypothetical handheld x86 maker could partner with Good Old Games.com, as they’ve basically already done most of the hard work on that, with many older PC games, and it’d be a great endorsement.

    Maybe someday.

  50. alterku
    January 19, 2016 at 10:21 am

As has been mentioned before, several titles get leaked on the steam db but not all of them end up making it onto the service. I will admit EDF has a better chance than most of those that never were ported/released however. FYI Half-Life 3 was on that list.

  51. alterku
    January 19, 2016 at 10:22 am

This leak does seem to be more verifiable than most, but I’ll try to keep my hopes in check until it’s actually announced.
