Danganronpa 2×2 recasts Monokuma voice actor

Monokuma

Spike Chunsoft has announced Danganronpa series mascot Monokuma’s voice actor will be recast starting with the upcoming Danganronpa 2×2.

The new remake of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair has recast Monokuma with Wasabi Mizuta, due to former voice actor Tarako passing away in 2024.

Tarako replaced the original voice actor, Nobuyo Ōyama, who voiced Monokuma from 2010 to 2016 for the first three video games, two stageshows, and Danganronpa: The Animation.

Coincidentally, all three aforementioned voice actors subsequently voiced popular manga / anime character Doraemon, starting with the original 1979 series and Oyama, then Tarako, and now Mizuta.

Here’s a new trailer confirming the new voice actor:

Danganronpa 2×2 is in development for Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox Series X|S, Switch, Switch 2, and PS5. A release is set for sometime in 2026.
