Spike Chunsoft has announced Danganronpa 2×2, a new remake of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair.

Danganronpa 2×2 is in development for Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox Series X|S, Switch, Switch 2, and PS5. A release is set for sometime in 2026.

Fans can expect the new remake to include the same high-speed deductive action game features, as well as a “brand-new scenario” and a “freshly revamped original scenario” from the original game.

Story

Jabberwock Island – once a popular tourist destination, this now uninhabited island remains oddly pristine. You and your classmates at the elite Hope’s Peak Academy have been brought to this island by your super-cute teacher for a “lovey-dovey, heart-throbbing school trip.” Everyone seems to be having fun in the sun…until Monokuma returns to restart his murderous game! Trapped on this island of mutual killing, your only hope of escape rests in solving the island’s mysteries. But be warned—sometimes the truth can be its own despair…

Game Overview

The story unfolds in chapters and each is divided into three main parts:

• Daily Life – Experience the Ultimate Students’ lives inside the academy via interactive conversation with your fellow classmates and exploration of the academy. During this part, major events take place, such as escape attempts and Monokuma presenting the students with motives to kill.
• Investigation – When a murder occurs and a body is discovered, an investigation begins. You’ll examine the crime scene, talk to other Ultimate Students, and collect evidence needed to solve the case.
• Class Trial – Using the evidence you’ve gathered, you’ll join the Class Trial. The Ultimate Students will use their unique talents to debate the case from different angles. Your goal is to expose any contradictions and reveal the true culprit.
