For those who don’t know who this man is, he was the man in charge of indie content for Nintendo of America. He was mainly in charge of courting indie developers to bring their games to Nintendo consoles. I’m sure you have all noticed the increased focus on indie content for the 3DS and Wii U shop, so this situation seems odd at best.
It all started when Dan Adelman made some controversial comments on twitter about region locking, nintendo told him to stop, and he just decided to up and leave rather than be censored on twitter.
Happy to announce I reached an arrangement w/ @NintendoAmerica whereby I can tweet again. Arrangement includes my not working there anymore.

He later on responded to user questions on ask.fm and stated that the twitter thing was a bit of an annoyance, but it’s not the reason he left.
“That’s not why I left! I left b/c I achieved what I set out to do there and want to move on to my next challenge. Not being allowed to tweet was a bit of an annoyance, but the real reason is that indies games is obviously much broader than Nintendo, and for me to make a big impact to take indie games to the next level of success, I need to work directly with developers across all platforms.”
So according to that quote, he wants to help the overall landscape of indie games grow and develop and browsing through his twitter and ask.fm accounts he seems to show that he doesn’t have any long lasting ill will towards Nintendo. Only him and Nintendo truly know the real reason he left but the fact remains that he is no longer there.
