Recently publisher and developer CD Projekt RED announced new Cyberpunk 2077 expac Phantom Liberty. The publisher also quietly confirmed this is currently the only planned expansion for the game.
While this new expansion is set for 2023, the Cyberpunk 2077 developers have stated this is the only planned expansion for the game. On the teaser video posted on YouTube, a user by the name of Jonna Dragneel making a remark on there being more to come after this.
This led to the official YouTube channel for Cyberpunk 2077 stating the Phantom Liberty expansion is the only one they “have planned” for the game.
Given how direct the statement is, it’s certain that Cyberpunk won’t be getting the same treatment The Witcher 3 did, which got 2 expansions: Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, after its launch.
This is curious news in relations to how much more support the game will be getting moving forward. When they announced this new expansion, the developers also gave the game a new update, which was infamous for its launch for how many issues it had.
Cyberpunk 2077 is now available for Windows PC (via Epic Games, GOG, and Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Google Stadia. In case you missed it, you can find our thorough review on the original game here and our port report for its next-gen versions here.
The Phantom Liberty expansion will only be available for Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 – as it will exclude the last gen versions on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
