Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Wire Livestream Details; New Trailer, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Anime Announced

Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt Red have revealed new information about the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 during their Night City Wire livestream.

As we know from prior coverage, the game will feature a heist in the prologue for a microchip that can grant immortality from the Arasaka corporation. The heist goes awry, and your crew seemingly betray you; while Johhny Silverhand (Keanu Reeves) seemingly pick you up from your lowest point.

We also see the Badlands; a desert surrounding the city, filled with Nomads. This open world area can be driven around in, and meeting the roaming Nomads in their own cars and bikes.

We also see new characters and factions. The Mox gang formed in 2076 after the death of a sex worker king-pin, while Adam Smasher (from tabletop Cyberpunk 2020) is a fully converted cyborg, who was loyal to Arasaka corporation.

The game also features “Brain Dance” based gameplay. Using a special device, users can re-create the memories, sights, sounds, and feelings of someone else. This was originally used for therapy, but later become a new form of media. Some even pay for “BDs” with high adrenaline, or where a person dies (“flatliners”).

Players can look around in third-person, re-winding, fast-forwarding and pausing the scene to find information. Players can also scan elements from the scene to gleam more information than the original person would have realized.

These can include things such as what was in their peripheral vision (or otherwise unnoticed), or background noise and conversations. If the user has cybernetic enhancements (such as infra-red vision) this can also be used.

The developers also explain how they added many small details to the environment to help sell the lives of the people who live in the world. They even used the notes of their quest designer for the notebook of a serial killer.

The team also announced that along with those who buy the game on Xbox One getting the game for free on Xbox Series X, the same offer is available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

FInally, the team announced that Studio Trigger and Netflix will be working on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, an anime set to launch in 2022. You can read more about that on our sister website Nicchiban.
