It’s been revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 will be getting a “game of the year” edition after their upcoming Phantom Liberty expansion releases in 2023.
This information was announced during a recent investor call by the company’s CEO (via Stockwatch.pl, in Polish).
“It’s the natural order of things – it was the same with The Witcher, which after both expansions was finally released as a Game of the Year Edition” CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kicinski said. “The same can be expected in this case.”
He also confirmed that it will be released at “full price”, which makes sense as “game of the year edition” titles that have been launched in the past have done the same, whether by CD Projekt Red or otherwise.
However, the Phantom Liberty expansion is only slated to launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. So it remains to be seen if last gen versions of Cyberpunk 2077 will be seeing this new edition, or if they will be left out as it wouldn’t otherwise add anything new.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store). The upcoming Phantom Liberty expansion is set to come out sometime in 2023 only for current gen consoles and PC. You can check out our review of the game here.
