CD Projekt RED confirmed the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion is still coming in 2023.
This week CD Projekt RED held its latest financial call, in which the company revealed the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion is still coming in 2023.
While this may upset some who may be disappointed with support on the game, considering every single date on their previous roadmap was missed, and promises of free DLC” ended up being nothing but a few pieces of equipment and a re-skin, quest designer Paweł Sasko wants to assure fans that the expansion will be “properly crafted.”
Also concerning fans is just how small the Cyberpunk 2077 support team is, having drastically shrunk since launch. To put things into perspective:
CD Projekt RED currently have more staff dedicated to Gwent, The Witcher’s card game spinoff, than they do Cyberpunk 2077, which rightfully has fans confused. This is especially confusing with how much CD Projekt RED keep harping on about their “commitment to quality” and improving the game.
From the outside, it looks as if CD Projekt RED is ready to put Cyberpunk 2077 behind them and move toward the future, which involves a new Witcher game, and an “unreleased game based on an existing property.”
The latter of the two could very much could be a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, or possibly even the multiplayer mode which was to be a big stand-alone product that CD Projekt RED has stated would be “free for Cyberpunk 2077 owners” but now remains unclear if it’s coming at all.
Based on early gameplay videos I thought the game looked pretty bland with incredibly basic and rudimentary boss fights and to a degree, I was right. However, the story, world design, music, and characters managed to suck me in and turn me into a huge fan of the game. I’m choosing to wait and see what the expansion pack brings before I put Cyberpunk 2077 to rest.
