CyberConnect2 Will Announce a New Game

CyberConnect2 will announce a new game in February 2022, the company revealed during their New Year’s Eve 2021 livestream this week.

The news that CyberConnect2 will announce a new game in February 2022 came from (via ryokutya2089) company president and CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama, who also confirmed the game is set to release sometime in summer 2022.

Matsuyama teased that the game is a new work and the world doesn’t know about it, so it will definitely “make the world go crazy.”

The CyberConnect2 boss also confirmed new sales numbers for various games they’ve produced:

  • Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles has sold over 1.3 million copies (the game sold over a million copies within a month)
  • Dragon Ball Z Kakarot has sold over 4.5 million copies
  • Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 has sold over 8.7 million copies

Furthermore, Matsuyama also confirmed the company will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the .hack series, which is coming up on June 8th. A chaser game TV drama based on the series is planned, and is set to be released sometime in fall 2023.

In related news to the .hack series, the hack//G.U. Last Recode collection is getting a western physical release on Nintendo Switch – you can read more about that here in our previous report.
