This week’s Famitsu (also via Hachima) has revealed three new titles being developed by Japanese studio CyberConnect2 in their outline for the next ten years of the company.
The studio is working on three new games all focused around the theme of “revenge,” news confirmed via an interview with company president Hiroshi Matsuyama.
Here are the titles:
- Fugue of the Battlefield – Features anthropomorphic cats and dogs in a young-adult type adventure set in a “dramatic” strategy RPG. It takes place in the Little Tail Bronx setting in both Tail Concerto and Solatorobo. The game is also said to have roguelike and shooting/action elements.
- Tokyo Ogre Gate – A fast-paced action game that has a core mechanic that increases your attack as you go faster.
- Cecile – A gothic loli 2.5D action game with style. The protagonists, four girls, wield swordsticks and an umbrellas. Each girl has lost something, including: a husband, both legs, her entire body, and her voice.
Matsuyama also confirmed their roughly 200 staff are working full-time on their contracted games, so now they’re looking to hire roughly 100 people in the next two years. They’re working on three contract games and three self-published titles.
The goal is to work on self-published games that only CyberConnect2 can make alongside their contract titles, via their new “C5” program. Short for “Cyber Connect Creative Challenge Competition,” the goal is to pick the top ten titles from their staff and pick three to make into actual games.
Finally, the company sadly confirmed that Project Venom has currently been put on standby, their Studio Ghibli-like action game. You can read more about that here.
