Cthulhu Is Dead And Your Cat Is Cursed In New Adventure Game Gibbous

If you like your adventure games well drawn and farcical, then Stuck in the Attic Studio’s recently Kickstarted project might be something worth looking into.

Set in a world that is a light-heated parody of H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos, your character is tasked with un-cursing his cat, who now mysteriously gained the ability to speak. Somehow, this madness is all tied into the reappearance of the Necronomicon, with cults now rising up to hasten the resurgence of long dead deities.

One aspect that really stands out is the animation:

To give you an idea, each second of animation requires 72 individual drawings. Blink and you’ll miss half an animator’s work day. Literally. Bringing Gibbous’ characters to life is a very time consuming task.
Visually, Gibbous draws influences from plenty of mediums – from Peter Chan’s amazing work on 90’s adventures to Hayao Miyazaki’s movies’ incredible backdrops. A mixture of cartoony and surreal, our background art constitutes probably the most time-consuming aspect of bringing Gibbous to life, along with the traditionally animated characters.

Their Kickstarter is currently at $17,213 with a goal of $40,993 and 20 days left of funding to go. If you want to try it before you play, a demo is available for windows, Mac, and Linux.
