Reportedly it seems that Brace Yourself Games, the developers behind titles such as Crypt of the NecroDancer, Cadence of Hyrule, and Phantom Brigade, are going through financial trouble.

It has come out that the company has laid off 50% of their employees, at least according to one such former employee, Crystal Savin.

“With a (very) heavy heart, I am announcing that I was recently impacted by a 50% cut in workforce at my studio after only being at the company for 4 months,” Savin said. “I am actively seeking employment opportunities in the game development, esports, and influencer spaces. RTs appreciated”

Given her short tenure, it’s likely that those who were cut also had not been with the company for long either. However, for a team to lay off such a high percentage of their workforce implies financial issues that have not currently been reported or revealed by Brace Yourself Games.

Despite whatever troubles they may have, their games are still available. Crypt of the NecroDancer is available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, and PC (via Steam and GOG). Their upcoming game, Rift of the NecroDancer, is set to launch in 2023 for Nintendo Switch and PC (via Steam).
