Crowdfunding Recap – Prodeus, M.A.S.S. Builder, and More

It’s been around a month since my previous Crowdfunding Recap, so its time to check out some more promising games currently looking for funding on Kickstarter. Luckily, there’s no shortage of interesting campaigns going on this week.

Here’s 6 crowdfunding campaigns you might want to check out:

Prodeus
Developer: Mike and Jason
Platforms: Windows PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One
Funding Goal: $52,500 (25% Funded)
End Date: April 24th
Release Date: Fall 2019 (Early Access)

Let’s start today’s Recap off with Prodeus, a game that’s probably in my top 20 list of most anticipated games of 2019. Prodeus is another attempt at reviving the glory days of ’90s shooters using modern technology, and features multiple graphical filters you can apply that really nail the classic aesthetic of games like Doom, Blood, and Shadow Warrior. The game will also ship with a powerful level editor, and all the community features players need to share their creations.

The campaign for Prodeus is less than a day old, and is already 25% of the way to its goal with a month remaining. The game will hit Steam Early Access in Fall 2019, and will get a full release (and console ports) sometime in 2020. The minimum pledge required to snag a digital copy of the game is $20.

M.A.S.S. Builder
Developer: Vermillion Digital
Platforms: Windows PC
Funding Goal: $32,000 (148% Funded)
End Date: April 11th
Release Date: TBA 2019

M.A.S.S. Builder is a mecha combat action-RPG where players pilot mechs called Mechanical Assault Skeleton Suits (M.A.S.S.) in a war for humanity’s future following an invasion by a mysterious alien race called the Quarks. The mechs in M.A.S.S. Builder are highly customizable, and consist of an inner frame that you bolt individual parts and weapons onto. On top of that, there’s a huge web of software, gears, and other internal parts that you can slot into your mech for extra performance options.

M.A.S.S. Builder still has around two weeks left and is nearly 50% past its initial funding goal. The developers just uploaded a demo on Steam that allows you to play with the game’s mecha hanger if you want to see more of the gameplay before pledging. You can grab a digital copy for as little as $20, or $40 for a physical copy.

Dungeon Defenders: Awakened
Developer: Chromatic Games
Platforms: Windows PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One
Funding Goal: $250,000 (131% Funded)
End Date: April 3rd
Release Date: TBA 2019

Dungeon Defenders: Awakened is a new installment in the popular action-RPG/tower defense hybrid franchise that seeks to return the series to its roots. Awakened is being created by Chromatic Games, a new indie studio comprised of a few core members from Trendy Entertainment that managed to acquire the rights to the series. This new installment sends the four heroes from the original game back in time to fight a new threat that could destroy the past, present, and future of Etheria, and serves as a prequel to the eventual Dungeon Defenders III.

Dungeon Defenders: Awakened is entering its final week of funding, and has long since overtaken its initial goal. For $20 you can buy a digital copy on your platform of choice, along with some cosmetic goodies and an invite to the game’s closed beta later this year.

Radio Commander
Developer: Serious Sims
Platforms: Windows PC
Funding Goal: $7,467 (210% Funded)
End Date: April 11th
Release Date: TBA 2019

Radio Commander is a rather unique take on the RTS genre. Set during the Vietnam War, you play as a field commander that must direct your troops and coordinate fire support from your command tent by listening to radio chatter and plotting out the positions of friendlies and enemies on a map. You’ll have to make difficult decisions as your troops encounter enemy ambushes, traps, and civilians, because getting your coordinates wrong could result in a poorly-placed artillery strike that does more harm than good.

Radio Commander had a fairly modest initial funding goal because Serious Sims will be getting some support through PlayWay, a more traditional publisher. The $15 pledge gets you a digital copy of the game and instant access to an early build that you can play right now.

Space Haven
Developer: Bugbyte
Platforms: Windows PC, Mac, Linux
Funding Goal: $40,000 (430% Funded)
End Date: March 31st
Release Date: Early 2020

Space Haven is a colony management sim inspired by RimWorld and Oxygen Not Included. You are placed in command of a colony ship that has left a dying Earth in search of a suitable planet for humanity to relocate to. You’ll have to manage the needs of your colonists by expanding your modular ship, growing food, and keeping oxygen and gas levels in check. You’ll also occasionally need to send out away teams to gather resources and confront hostile aliens.

Space Haven is in its final week, and is well past its initial goal of $40,000. The minimum pledge to get a digital copy is $20, though pledging $30 will give you access to the closed alpha that starts in April.

Subverse
Developer: FOW Interactive
Platforms: Windows PC
Funding Goal: $131,999 (86% Funded)
End Date: May 1st
Release Date: TBA 2019

Finally, we come to Subverse, an incredibly lewd and crude sci-fi RPG by the degenerates at Studio FOW. This popular porn parody studio has decided to put their skills to the test and try their hand at what looks to be a fairly in-depth RPG, complete with shmup-style ship combat and grid-based tactical battles. Travel across the galaxy onboard the Mary Celeste as you build your harem of waifus, take on odd jobs, and battle against rival factions. There’s even a system where you grow genetically engineered minions in your lab to protect your waifus in combat (and please them when you aren’t around).

Subverse‘s campaign just launched, and has almost hit its initial goal. Stretch goals will add more female companions to woo and additional sexy scenes with all the characters, and considering the rate at which the campaign is gaining momentum, they should hit many of their goals before the May 1st end date. Pledges start at $13 for a basic digital copy, and the game is supposed to launch sometime later this year via Steam Early Access.

Which of these games caught your attention? Will you be pledging to any of these campaigns?
