Crowdfunding Recap – Godhood, Crossroads Inn, and More

It’s been a while since the last Crowdfunding Recap. As I’ve said before, this will only be a semi-regular series since its not every week that you come across a large number of promising Kickstarter campaigns.

Luckily, this week was an exception, and I managed to find a good variety of interesting games. Many of them are even targeting a 2019 release date, so hopefully we won’t have to wait long before we get to play them.

Here’s 6 promising games currently looking for funding on Kickstarter:

Godhood
Developer: Abby Games
Platforms: Windows PC
Funding Goal: $56,687 (92% funded)
End Date: March 1st
Release Date: May 2019 (Early Access)

First on the list is Godhood, the latest game by the developers of Reus and Renowned Explorers. This god game places you in the role of a newborn deity trying to guide your tribal followers by issuing religious doctrine and establishing the vices and virtues of your ideology. Nurture your budding tribe and craft the rites they need to perform to gain your divine favor. Spread your religion to other tribes, and engage the followers of rival deities in ritualistic combat to prove which god is stronger.

Godhood‘s campaign is in its final week, and its just shy of its $56k initial goal. The game will release this year via Early Access regardless of the success of the campaign, but Abby Games would like to raise the funds they need to implement a few extra features and mechanics before launch. The minimum pledge required to grab a copy of the game is $28.

Tower Princess
Developer: AweKTeaM
Platforms: Windows PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One
Funding Goal: $34,012 (74% funded)
End Date: March 7th
Release Date: Q1 2020

Tower Princess is a 3D action-platformer featuring some roguelite elements. An evil dragon has kidnapped royal heirs from across the land and imprisoned them in a grand dungeon. You are one of many Knights (or Knightesses) seeking to rescue the princess (or prince) by braving the dangers of the dungeon’s traps, monsters, and bosses. What makes Tower Princess unique is that it also features elements of dating sims. Once you rescue the princess, you’ll have to escape the dungeon with them, all while trying to win their heart with your bravery and combat prowess. That doesn’t mean that Tower Princess is an escort game, however, as each character has a set of abilities that will aid you in your adventure.

Tower Princess has just over a week left to raise about $10k in funding. There’s a link to a prototype build on the Kickstarter page that will allow you to try the game before pledging. You can buy a digital copy of the game for as little as $23.
