Over the holiday break, Playdek quietly put out an update for their Kickstarter-funded RPG, Unsung Story.
If you haven’t been following the game, it successfully raised $660,000 to make what they likened to a Final Fantasy Tactics spiritual successor, all featuring a story penned by Final Fantasy Tactics designer Yasumi Matsuno, who was also promised to do designs. Towards the end of 2015, it was increasingly clearer that the game wasn’t being made, and most backers gave up.
Now, the developer is saying they’ve not only secured proper funding to continue the game, they’re working on a playable build, nearly three years after they raised over half a million dollars in crowdfunding. We’ll see if the game is ever made and properly released.
Since then, it seems like even Matsuno has moved on, as he’s working on new content for Final Fantasy XIV.
