British developer Argonaut Games has announced a release window for their long-awaited Croc Legend of the Gobbos remaster.
The new Croc Legend of the Gobbos remaster is launching in December for Windows PC (via GOG), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. A physical release was also announced for Switch and PS5:
- Standard Edition $39.99 – includes the base game and a full-color manual
- Collector’s Edition (pictured above) $129.99 – comes with an 8” Croc resin statue with a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity, a PVC Croc keychain, an 18”x24” artwork poster, a set of Ultra3DFX™ stickers, a four-disc CD soundtrack consisting of over 100 tracks including remixes, pre-release versions, and unused tracks created for the iconic Croc score, all wrapped in premium packaging.
Alongside the physical release is news that an adorable Gobbo plush toy will be available to buy from the Rock It online store.
“From the outset, our vision has been to release Croc only when we’re happy with it,” said Jez San, founder of Argonaut Games. “We are speed-running towards a December 2024 release and are very close to being complete. However, if we need to add a little more polish, we won’t hesitate to do so. After waiting 27 years, we trust that our dedicated fans can wait a few weeks longer.”
Here’s a rundown on the remaster, plus a new trailer for the physical release:
Developed by legendary studio Argonaut Games, Croc Legend of the Gobbos follows the heartwarming journey of an endearing, humble little crocodile equipped with only his iconic backpack and a wiggly butt as he sets off on his quest to rescue the Gobbos from the clutches of the nefarious Baron Dante and his hordes of Dantinis.
Croc must platform his way across a series of unique worlds by running, jumping, climbing, swimming, and tail spinning to save the Gobbos from captivity.
With its charm and creativity, the original game quickly became a multi-million unit selling platforming classic and the Croc remaster delivers an authentic gameplay experience that will transport players back to the golden age of gaming.
