British developer Argonaut Games has announced a Croc Legend of the Gobbos: Platinum Edition, an upgraded re-release of their classic platformer remaster.
Croc Legend of the Gobbos: Platinum Edition is in development for Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PS4, and PS5 with a release set for today on PC/Steam and October 16th for consoles.
Fans can expect the upgraded release to include: a new Time Attack mode, 25+ Crocipedia entries, quality-of-life improvements, and full achievement support across PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Switch.
The remaster of the classic platformer launched back in April across PC (via Steam and GOG), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PS4, and PS5. Get our preview!
Here’s a rundown on the new release, plus a new trailer:
So why the new name? Great question! When we initially launched the Croc Legend of the Gobbos remaster, we didn’t include enough trophies to qualify for the Platinum trophy on PlayStation. And it’s not permitted to simply fix this with a patch. So we had to come up with a smarter solution: release a new version of the game with a comprehensive trophy set, including 16 new Trophies and the highly coveted Platinum Trophy.
And since we had our sleeves rolled up working on the Trophies, we decided to go all-in and add the equivalent 16 new Achievements to the Xbox and PC platforms, and also bring all the Achievements to the Switch as well, with its own in-game Achievement tracking screen!
But this isn’t just about trophies. Croc Legend of the Gobbos Platinum Edition includes:
- A new time trial gameplay mode called Time Attack
- 25+ new additions to the Crocipedia.
- The ability to toggle between different Croc Main Theme mixes in the main menu.
- A bunch of bug fixes were squashed. Ker-Splat!
- A handful of quality-of-life features and improvements.
Here’s how it’ll roll out:
- Switch, Xbox One, Series X/S, and GOG (PC) players will receive this update as standard.
- Steam (PC) players will be able to purchase the Platinum Edition of Croc for the first time
- PlayStation 5 & PlayStation 4 players will see it as a new edition of the game, which they can download and play separately.
This update is a testament to our dedication to the Croc community. We’ve listened to your feedback and are excited to bring this update to all Croc fans, including our PlayStation trophy hunters who have been eagerly awaiting the Platinum path.
