UPDATE: Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time Features Over 100 Levels, In-Game Purchases, No Microtransactions

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time

Update: Toys for Bob have issued a statement, clarifying that Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will not have microtransactions.

“We’re seeing confusion about #MTX in @CrashBandicoot 4 and want to be [crystal emoji] clear: There are NO MICROTRANSACTIONS in #Crash4. As a bonus, the Totally Tubular skins are included in all digital versions of the game.”

Original Story:

New information for Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time has been discovered; including that it will have in-game purchases, and possibly over 100 levels.

The news comes via a Twitter user leaking the alleged contents of a GameStop email (via another user from the Crash Bandicoot SubReddit).

Of particular note is the Minute Glass Timer exclusive to pre-ordering at GameStop, and one particular statement. For those relying on machine translation, the text in fourth image reads as follows:

All New Game

Full sequel with 100+ levels of play, new game modes, and new abilities for innovative gameplay.”

The titanic number of levels leads to speculation if the levels overall will be shorter, or exactly how many worlds there will be. Based on past games, each of these levels may also have Relics to earn via completing them under specific times.

In addition, the game’s Microsoft Store page notes the game “Offers in-app purchases.” As both pieces of information have come to light at the same time, it is not hard to speculate if some of the 100+ levels are DLC. However, such information would usually be disclosed under consumer laws.

It could be the in-app purchases provide quicker access to the game’s DLC- rather than micro-transactions or the like. In our prior coverage, we stated those who buy the game digitally will get the Totally Tubular costumes for Crash and Coco at launch. As such, the DLC could be costumes at the very least.

As of this time of writing, the official website makes no mention on the number of levels, or any DLC.

This is not the first time the game has been subjected to a leak, with the Taiwanese ratings board publishing the description of the game ahead of its official reveal.
