Cowboy Bebop live-action title sequence nominated for Emmy

Live Action Cowboy Bebop

The intro for the ill-fated Netflix Cowboy Bebop has been nominated for an Emmy.

The Netflix adaptation of Cowboy Bebop premiered late last year and was canceled after only one season. The series production was marred by difficulties such as John Cho’s injury and by a lack of faith from creators and fans like when the director of the original anime Shinichiro Watanabe said he could only “pray and hope” for the Netflix adaptation to be good.

It’s interesting to note that it’s the introduction that’s been nominated for an Emmy. The introduction uses the theme song Tank from the original anime and borrows heavily from the imagery and pacing of the original intro. You can watch a side by side comparison below.

What do you think? Is it a well deserved nomination? Or does the true credit belong to the original intro from 1998? Let us know in the comments!
