It seems that Sega’s recent acquisition of Atlus could be making waves in the localization scene, as a rumor from the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly points to the company possibly localizing a much demanded title.
The scan, which surfaced from a fan on a Yakuza fan page on Facebook, has been transcribed for your reading pleasure below:
“The House That Demon Schlong Mara Built is far from dead and looks to keep on churning out great localizations,” the magazine’s Q-Mann wrote in its latest rumor mill. “In fact, the Q-Gangzsta even has this exclusive tidbit: Don’t rule out Yakuza 5 coming to America under the Atlus banner. After some high-rollin’ escapades in the Tokyo underworld during my many TGS trips over the years, the Q is ready for the rest of you to relive some of his thuggin’ and buggin’!”
So there you have it, while the Yakuza team is diligently finishing up Yakuza: Restoration, Sega might be tasking the Atlus localization team to bring Yakuza 5 westward.
Despite Yakuza 5 releasing almost two years ago in Japan, the latest release in the west, Yakuza: Dead Souls, sold pretty horribly and pretty much prevented future western releases.
