Corpses N Souls, A New Metroidvania With A Unique Art Style

The first thing anyone would ask after reading the title for this story is “But don’t they all have unique art styles?”, and yes, you’d probably be right. The amazing difference with Side Scroll Studios’ Corpses N Souls is that the game’s animation and coloring are extremely well done. So well done that it looks more like a high budget platformer than an indie game. That being said, the strange, dream-like, twilight look of the world brings back memories of Astal in the way things look too surreal to exist. Fairly impressive for a simple two-man team.

Corpses N Souls is more of an action RPG than a platformer, with more of an emphasis placed on levels and skills than other titles in the genre. It also borrows gameplay mechanics from Diablo, with a great deal of effort being put into the game’s loot randomization and crafting systems.

Corpses ‘N Souls is a massive 2D Metroidvania, fused with Diablo-like ARPG mechanics. It users the power of modern rendering hardware to produce exceptional detail, allowing the developer to realize their vision in High Definition.
Corpses ‘N Souls is set in a massively detailed, vibrant yet darkly ghoulish sci-fi world blended with classic Metroidvania and ARPG mechanics. Your journey takes place within the E-K planets in the Epsilon quadrant of the Universe where you will choose a species and class to take on the challenges before you.
Become the master of harvesting Corpses and Souls or be one of its victims and be harvested yourself. As the Universe dawns the start of “Soul Revolution” no one’s Corpse and Soul is safe. Only you can choose the fate of your species, be the one to help piece together the “Keys to the Universe” and gain the upper hand in the impending “Soul Wars”.
