Ascension Games are a small studio based out of Linköping, Sweden. They’ve started a kickstarter campaign for a very interesting game titled Cornerstone: The Song of Tyrim. What makes Cornerstone so special? It’s an open world blend of Zelda: Wind Waker visuals and Demon’s/Dark Souls combat.
So basically, this is the kind of game for people who want the challenging gameplay of Demon’s/Dark Souls, without the blood and grimdark tone. The art style alone makes Cornerstone really shine, but having that combined with really deep yet accessible gameplay will help make this a very fun adventure in my opinion.
The story of Cornerstone follows the travels of Tyrim, a young viking boy from a village on the island of Borjana. Most of the viking warriors have gone missing in recent years, leaving mostly women and children left undefended from the looming threat of the Gou-Hai empire. The beginning of the game involves Tyrim setting off on a journey to find the lost Viking warriors, while his village starts to fall apart at the seams.
