In a find by Go Nintendo, it seems like the European Virtual Console on Wii U is going to get yet another classic release in the form of Contra III: The Alien Wars.

This release is curiously based off the North American release and not the European version, which had an entirely different name: Super Protector: Alien Rebels. The European version was the same in all regards except the title and the commandos being replaced with robotic soldiers.

Like any good side-scrolling shmup, it features two player co-op. There is no word on whether or not the American Virtual Console on Wii U will get the game as well, but stay tuned. We’ll keep you guys posted.
