Compile Heart have released a teaser for their next game, the “next stage” of the Hyperdimension Neptunia series.
While there is an official website, there is little information at this stage. The new trailer hints at new characters being “sisters to the next stage.”
The Hyperdimension Neptunia series is based in the world of Gamindustri and its four goddesses- or CPUs (Console Patron Unit). Each of these girls were based on then-recent consoles from Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, and the cancelled Sega Neptune. As the series progressed, they have been less focused on those consoles, and the companies as a whole.
Later games introduced the CPU Candidates; sisters to the main girls who represented the handheld consoles of the above companies- barring Xbox and with Nintendo having two. The girls in the new trailer do appear to be Nepgear, Uni, Rom, and Ram; though the secrecy over hiding their faces is curious.
It could be that the girls will now be shown a little older than their initial incarnations, and may even be taking on the role of full CPUs. Even so, the odds of Neptunia and the current girls “retiring” seems unlikely, and will likely continue to appear in games.
The trailer and the official website state more will be revealed in the November 25th issue of Famitsu. We will keep you informed as we learn more, and you can find the teaser trailer below.
