Compile Heart has announced (via Famitsu, Hachima) Black Rose Valkyrie, a new military RPG for PlayStation 4.
Featured above, you can view the game’s teaser trailer. The key staff working on the project include producer Norihisa Kochiwa, director Kenta Kanno, character designer Kosuke Fujishima, and scenario writer Takumi Miyajima.
The game is focused on “traitors” and “betrayal,” with a main protagonist and five heroines. Every time you play the game, the traitor of your party will change. You can look into who’s the traitor in your party, however this could lead to both good and bad outcomes, pending your approach. There are multiple endings planned, as well.
The settings of night and day are crucial to the story, with certain scenarios only happening at certain times of day. This also affects your enemies. Events are created in Live2D tech, which helps make a more lifelike anime-aesthetic. Battles are turn-based, with actions implemented via a command-based system where action orders switch depending on the character.
The story takes place in the first half of the 20th century when the protagonist/hero and crew fight monsters. You could say it looks like a typical military setting at first – however the theme of betrayal is key.
It’s worth mentioning this was the game Compile Heart teased last week – however this is not being published under Idea Factory International the western publisher – hence it isn’t confirmed for a western release just yet.
