Sega has revealed a new competitive mode for Sonic Mania.
Featured above, new gameplay accompanies the entirely new mode, which factors in a few things to determine the victor: clear time, score, number of items acquired, number of rings acquired when clearing the level, and total number of rings acquired.
Here’s a rundown on the new mode, via Sega:
Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are all playable characters in Sonic Mania’s Competition Mode. Winners are determined by a few factors: clear time, score, number of items acquired, number of rings acquired when clearing the level, and total number of rings acquired throughout the level. Players can adjust the rules of each match by adjusting items in the item boxes and number of rounds that take place.
The news comes hot on the heels of the game’s special stages, time attack, and bonuses were revealed. You can read more about that here in our previous report.
Sonic Mania is launching across for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch on August 15th.
