Publisher Kalypso Media and developer Claymore Game Studios announced a delay for Commandos: Origins.
Commandos: Origins will forgo its previously announced 2024 release for one sometime next year, in March 2025.
“The Commandos franchise has always been rooted in tactical precision; offering different approaches to solve versatile missions,” said Jürgen Reusswig, Studio Director at Claymore Game Studios. “The teams at Claymore Game Studios and Kalypso Media are fully committed to honoring this legacy. With the valuable feedback we have collected from our devoted community, we’re now making the final adjustments needed to deliver the best possible tactical experience for our players.”
The additional development time will help the team focus on several core areas, including:
- Performance optimizations will address frame rate concerns for a smoother game experience.
- Enhanced AI will improve NPC responsiveness, while updated control schemes will make gameplay more intuitive, complementing the customizable key-bindings on Windows PC introduced in the Closed Beta and the demo.
- Additional updates to UI/UX will further enrich the player experience.
- Provisional voice-overs used in the demo and Closed Beta will also be replaced with professionally recorded lines in English, German, French, Spanish, and Chinese, adding greater authenticity to the WWII setting.
When the game does release it’ll be on Windows PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. The game will be on Xbox Game Pass too.
