Get excited, because Air Brawl has a demo and it’s ready to take your money. Air Brawl is a quirky online multiplayer combat flight simulator in which players battle it out above a floating, propeller-borne city. The game has been in development for a little under a year by (mostly) one man, Wilhelm Nylund, and the results are pretty impressive.
As of now the game sports four different planes, each with their own theme and weapons. The Fatbird is a steampunk rendition of early military planes; the Sniper, a sleek, contemporary jet, has appropriately modern weapons; the filigreed Witch Doctor plays more of a control role; and the Viking is a wood-and-metal craft with big guns, from another time and place altogether.
Combat consists of primary (light) and secondary (heavy) attacks, and you can choose one of each from the varied and imaginative weapons at your disposal. The Fatbird’s inspiration extends to its armory, allowing you to kit it out with shotguns, for example. The batapult, a catapult that launches pots full of bats, is exclusive to the Witch Doctor. There’s even an anti-aircraft anchor, which is a cross between a grappling hook and a harpoon gun. And there’s more.
The demo does contain the rare glitch or flaw, and the graphics aren’t polished (although I think it looks great nevertheless), but that’s exactly why the game now has a Kickstarter.
Grab your aviators, don your flight jackets, and experience it for yourself by downloading Air Brawl here. If you like what you see, consider kickstarting the game here. You can also vote on it over on Steam’s Greenlight.
And let us know what you thought of the demo.
