Code of Princess EX Steam Page Appears, Launches October 1 on PC

Code of Princess EX

A Steam page for Code of Princess EX has appeared, despite no announcement of the hack-and-slash beat ’em up RPG hybrid coming to Windows PC.

While no public announcement has been made by publisher Nicalis or developer Studio Saizensen (along with no prior news of the game heading to Windows PC) it appears the Steam page has launched ahead of any such announcement.

Steam DB (a website dedicated to noticing changes in Steam’s database) notes that the Steam page listing has been updated today with various categories and and tags. At one point, the game did not even appear on Steam DB, despite the game’s Steam page being live.

Steam DB curiously lists the Steam Page as being on Steam’s database September 6th, 2017. It should be noted the game launched on Nintendo Switch July 31st, 2018.

The hack-and-slash, beat ’em up, and RPG hybrid follows Princess Solange of DeLuxia, attempting to save the world along-side 50 playable characters to drive back monsters trying to take over the world. Players hop between three planes during combat, leveling up their heroes and equipping them with the right weapons and accessories for the job.

As stated by Nicalis when discussing the Nintendo Switch version, the two player co-op was previously only available in the Free Play and Bonus Quests modes in the original game, while EX has local and online co-op available in the Campaign mode.

While only four characters can be used in the Campaign, EX allows other characters collected to gain 50% of the EXP earned as you complete Campaign quests. Cutscenes during the Campaign also feature Japanese dialogue.

The skill system was also adjusted (stats upgrading automatically, replacing the Speed with Resist to measure magical defense), along with redrawn sprites and backgrounds, a more consistent frame rate, more item spawns, and rebalancing to the Burst ability.

You can find the full rundown (via Steam) below.

Code of Princess EX brings a unique combination of hack-and-slash beat-‘em-up action and role-playing depth to the table! Fans of both genres are sure to be captivated by this epic adventure of intense multi-plane fantasy combat, with a roster of over 50 playable characters, all of whom can be upgraded with new abilities and equipment. The game’s Campaign mode supports local two-player co-op, and there are also options for both competitive and cooperative online play.

The story within Code of Princess EX follows Princess Solange of DeLuxia as she fights to restore order in a world where monsters are trying to overtake the human race. Armed with the legendary sword DeLuxcalibur, Solange assembles a team of talented fighters to join her quest. Together, they embark on an epic journey where they will confront the monster uprising and try to discover it’s secret origins.
