Indie developer Torn Page has recently revealed Gunkatana, a very Hotline Miami-esque top down shooter that sends the player into a “retro” cyberpunk world to fight corrupt megacorps using (you guessed it) Katanas and laser guns.
Gunkatana has a campaign mode, but it seems much of the game’s focus is on its multiplayer, where speed is a huge factor, thanks to the many rails the game places in its arenas. These speed-boosting rails, combined with the ability to deflect shots with your sword, should give Gunkatana something new for hardcore players of similar games to sink their teeth into.
The game just opened a page on Steam Greenlight and also has a playable demo available.
Gunkatana is currently in pre-alpha and, if the greenlight campaign succeeds, should see release on PC sometime during the 4th quarter of this year.
