The original DOOM is one of those games that will be modded and ported forever – now classic DOOM was modded for ray tracing support.
DOOM was modded for ray tracing support by modder sultim_t, who took it upon themselves to make the iconic shooter look incredible – provided you have a high-end graphics card that actually supports ray tracing.
Here’s a video showing how DOOM was modded for ray tracing support:
DOOM was modded for ray tracing support via the PrBoom sourceport of DOOM, and the only the first three levels are actually supported with ray tracing.
You can find the installation files and instructions for PrBoom: Ray Traced over on sultim-t’s github page.
Classic DOOM has been officially updated with fancy new graphics tech as well – like with its 60FPS support on consoles and even smartphones.
The original DOOM is available for Windows PC (via Steam) and a multitude of platforms including Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and both iOS and Android.
