QUByte (Vasara Collection publisher) has announced Breakers Collection.
The new collection of classic 2D fighting games includes the 1996 classic Breakers and its 1998 sequel Breakers Revenge, for both Windows PC and “consoles.” A release is set for 2020. Featured above, you can view the announcement trailer for the new release.
QUByte also acquired the worldwide publishing rights to the series, which Visco Corporation originally developed for arcades and the Neo Geo. QUByte is promising the collection will bring “a range of new features in a single package.”
Here’s a rundown on the series:
Breakers is a 2D fighting game released by Visco, on December 17, 1996, for the Neo Geo and arcades in Japan. It features a roster of eight playable characters, from all over the world, competing against each other in a fierce tournament.
A sequel, Breakers Revenge, was released on July 3, 1998, with additional playable characters, balance adjustments and new gameplay elements.
Breakers has gained a cult following since its original release in Japan due to its solid gameplay and unique elements.
