Christopher Tin, the composer for the Civilization IV theme “Baba Yetu,” has returned to composer the new theme for Civilization VI.
The new theme is dubbed simply “Sogno di Volare,” which is Italian for “the dream of flight.” Featured above, you can watch an interview with Tin, which features pieces of the new theme scattered throughout.
Tin describes the new theme as “Euro-centric” when comparing it directly to the African-centric theme of Civilization IV. According to Tin, he didn’t have as much time to work on the theme, and yet he hashed out something that his wife liked – without him even asking for feedback.
“The other way that I know I’m onto something good is my wife will come into the room and say, ‘I like this!’ Because if I’m writing crap music, or only so-so music, she’ll just stay out in the living room,” Tin said. “She won’t wander in. But when you get the unsolicited feedback from someone, where they voluntarily come and say ‘Oh, this does it for me,’ then you know you’re onto something.”
Civilization VI is launching on October 21st, for PC. You can pre-order Civilization VI over on Steam.
