City of the Shroud To Be Delisted From Steam, No More Updates Planned

City of the Shroud

Abyssal Arts have announced that visual novel and turn-based RPG hybrid City of the Shroud will be delisted from Steam.

City of the Shroud is a visual novel with turn-based tactical battles that was Kickstarted in 2016. The game was meant to be episodic, with four episodes in total. The first episode released in 2018, but due to extremely poor sales, the developers ran out of funds to continue development in 2019. The second chapter was only partially finished.

After looking into their options, Abyssal Arts have decided that the best course of action is to delist the game from Steam on March 7th. The game and soundtrack are having a final, 90% off sale for anyone who wants to grab the game before its gone for good.

As the new Steam description notes, be aware that City of the Shroud is not a finished experience with a conclusive ending, and will not receive any new updates in the future. Owners will continue to be able to play the game after it is delisted.

Original Description with Updates Below

Choose Your Allies Wisely
Somewhere along the way, you made a huge mistake.

You got to the city. You bribed the customs agent to get in. You helped a poor, old haberdasher who was being robbed – the only decent thing to do, really – and then this monster from another dimension came out of nowhere.

It was already almost dead when you punched it and it fell over. You keep telling everyone that.

Except, now they’re calling you the Hero of Portals, the five most powerful people in the city are each clamoring for your allegiance, and just when you’re starting to think of leaving the city for good…

…a magical shroud descends around the city and traps everyone inside. Next thing you know, the place is devolving into civil war, there are monsters everywhere, and apparently, you’re the answer to everyone’s prayers.

Yeah, you definitely messed up somewhere.

Good luck.
