Square Enix has released a new update for the Chrono Cross remaster that finally addresses core issues the re-release had, most importantly its framerate.
The new 184.108.40.206 update was released for all platforms, finally getting the game’s framerate to 60FPS over the crippled framerate found in the original version. We noted the framerate issue in our thorough review and can confirm the game now runs at full 60FPS.
Other bug fixes were also implemented and we can also confirm input delay was also resolved in the new update.
Here’s a rundown on the update:
Version 220.127.116.11 of CHRONO CROSS: THE RADICAL DREAMERS EDITION has now been released.
- Framerate improvements
- Changes to the growth system for Pip
- Other minor bug fixes
(When using the hardware stated in the recommended specs for the Steam version, you can expect the game to run at an average of 60FPS (30FPS maximum outside of battle scenes.) However, due to the rendering system used in the game, it is possible that when using certain graphics cards, some scenes with particularly high load may not run at 60FPS. The cards we have observed this occurring with are in the AMD Radeon RX 6000 series.)
Details about the update have been posted on the official website and the support page.
Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition has been available for Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4
