Chivalry 2 goes into maintenance mode, dev says it’s “content and feature complete”

Chivalry 2

Developer Torn Banner Studios announced Chivalry 2 has entered maintenance mode, effectively ending all post-launch content for the popular medieval game.

With the game’s 11th and final content update, “Regicide,” the narrative conclusion in the game’s war between Argon II and Malric has come to an epic finale. The new update included one of Torn Banner’s “proudest creations to date”, the cinematic Team Objective map “Citadel.”

Torn Banner recapped the arsenal of updates the game received post-launch and proclaimed chivalry is dead (sorry, I had to), or rather Chivalry 2 is “content and feature complete.”

As such, new content for the game has come to a close and the team will now only provide maintenance support for critical issues though official servers, unofficial servers, and matchmaking will all naturally remain available.

Fans of the medieval warfare game will likely be disappointed to hear the news but Torn Banner promptly noted “this isn’t the end for the Chivalry franchise.”

The developer also revealed they’re now focusing their efforts and resources on “compelling new multiplayer projects,” both in the Chivalry universe and within what they teased as “terrifying new co-op territory.”

“We’ve been building our team in number and skillset to take on these following challenges, with a focused effort to ensure that when the next Chivalry title is released, it will utterly blow players away,” the developer said.

Chivalry 2 has been available for Windows PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
