The ongoing coronavirus pandemic (also known as COVID-19 officially, or Chinese Flu to others) has affected many worldwide, from businesses to public gatherings and events.

This includes postponements of GDC, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the physical events for EVO 2020 and Tokyo Game Show 2020, and cancellations E3 2020 (including digital events), the physical event for Gamescom 2020, and Comiket 98.

We also reported Square Enix offering face masks to Square Enix members for select purchases of over $100 on their store, and Guilty Gear: Strive being delayed to 2021.

The Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering are mapping the virus’ spread [12]. As of this time of writing, there have been over 5.014 million total confirmed cases worldwide, and over 2.777 million active cases. There have been over 328,000 deaths, however over 1.909 million people have made a “total recovery.”

Sayonara Tyrano is being directed by Kobun Shizuno whose works include multiple Detective Conan films, and the previous film in the Tyrano series My Tyrano: Together, Forever which premiered in 2018. The film will be animated by Tezuka Productions, who also worked on Tyrano: Together, Forever and have also animated popular series like Dagashi Kashi and The Quintessential Quintuplets.

A music video featuring a song from sound designer Ryuichi Sakamoto and clips from the film was also released this month, and can be found below via YouTube.

Sayonara Tyrano follows the journey of a tyrannosaurus who does not eat meat, and a pteranodon who cannot fly. Together, they travel the prehistoric world making friends and exploring, and searching for a rumored placed called Heaven where they can live in peace. However the leader of the gorgasauruses is on their tail, also searching for Heaven as he has heard it has a lot of prey for him to eat.

Sayonara Tyrano is based off of Tatsuya Miyanishi’s Tyrannosaurus series of picture books for children.
