Child of Light is Bringing Hope to All Platforms

Back during GDC Europe, Ubisoft announced a very ambitious, but still promising, JRPG inspired game called Child of Light.

Now, we have a full reveal for the game, including its gorgeous debut trailer, shown above. Child of Light is built in the UbiArt Framework, the same engine as Rayman Legends.

The game is all about Aura, a fairy girl who is whisked away from her home to a duke in Austria. Suddenly, she finds herself and her flame guardian Igniculus transported to the strange land of Lemuria.

In her journey to find her home, she’ll travel through lots of unique and beautiful environments, eventually leading her to the Black Queen, whom she must defeat.

Battles in Child of Light are turn based, there is a cast meter that is divided into “wait” and “cast” sections, which helps divide the turn order between Aura and her enemies. Time will stop when it is the player’s turn, and timing is critical in the game as timing your attacks right can give you rewards in combat.

Child of Light also sports a co-op mode, where a second player can take on controlling Aura’s companion Igniculus, providing both battle and exploration support to Aura.

Child of Light is set for a 2014 release on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U and PC, via Ubisoft Montreal.
