Check Out the Debut PlayStation 4 Gameplay for God Eater 2: Rage Burst

We’ve gotten a first look at the Playstation 4 version of God Eater 2: Rage Burst.

Featured above, you can view the off screen gameplay, via Famitsu. The whopping six-minute long gameplay video shows off a team of four characters battling against the Chrome Gawain, a new Aragami boss coming in Rage Burst.

The updated version is also coming to Playstation Vita, although we currently have no release date for it.

Yeah its a monster hunting game. The difference is that unlike monster hunter where you slay the monster and use its parts to make new armor and weapons, the parts in this game go to the weapon instead. Also unlike MH where there are several weapons, in GE there is only one type of weapon that can alternate between blade and gun. GE is also more story based than MH, however Id argue that MH has more variety and replayaybility than GE.

Rather than armor, it’s mostly the shield that handles defense. Costumes still need to be made using parts that you gather but they have no effect on your defense.

While GE had a sword that could change into a gun, it was technically 3 sword types as well as 3 gun types. Although the guns only affect the power of your bullets since the bullets you make are what determines how your ranged offense will play. Such as Sniper increasing the power of lasers, or a certain gun giving low Pierce and Crush damage but very high elemental damage, or another one having no elemental boosts but high Pierce damage.

GE2 added two new weapons though in the Boost Hammer and Charge Lance as well as including Blood Arts that can enhance or outright change the abilities of a weapon such as changing the Buster blade’s Charge Crush into a dash attack or giving the Shortsword an infinite combo or something.

It also made the guns unique. Sniper fires bullets in a straight line that hits instantly instead of having to travel. Blast now fires single powerful explosive bullets. Shot is mostly unchanged but it now has a bullet that deals weak damage while restoring Oracle Points (all bullet types cost Oracle Points except for this unique bullet). And I believe Shotgun was changed into its own type now as well making it 4 gun types.

Rage Burst is adding a Scythe now as can be seen in the video.

But yeah, there’s a certain charm in MH that other hunter games are lacking.
