Cells At Work! by Akane Shimizu is getting a second season, after its initial anime debut in 2018.
According to Funimation, the second season is going to be directed by Hirofumi Ogura, and animated by David Production (a subsidiary of Fuji TV). Kana Hanazawa will be reprising her role as the red blood cell AE3803.
Cells At Work follows the inner workings of the body as it’s managed by anthropomorphized cells. The red blood cells are delivery workers that carry nutrients and oxygen throughout the body; the body itself is represented as a large city. White blood cells are a no-nonsense security team, and platelets are hardworking children.
The manga by Akane Shimizu launched in 2015, and led to numerous spin offs; including Bacteria at Work, Cells That Don’t Work, Cells at Work! Code Black, Cells at Work! Friend, and Platelets at Work.
